31 Miles for Mental Health: Why This Matters to Me

This May, I’m taking on a challenge that’s both simple and deeply personal: walking 31 miles to support Mental Health UK.

At 25, life is a strange mix of momentum and uncertainty. You’re building a future, figuring things out, chasing goals… and sometimes quietly carrying more than you let on. Mental health doesn’t sit on the sidelines of our lives. It weaves itself into everything, from how we work and connect with others to how we see ourselves on the tough days.

For me, this isn’t just something I care about from a distance. I’ve worked in a women’s unit, where I’ve seen first-hand how deeply mental health can affect someone’s life. I’ve seen the strength it takes just to get through a day, and how much of a difference the right support, patience, and understanding can make. Those experiences stay with you. They change how you see people, and they remind you that everyone is carrying something you might not immediately see.

At the same time, I’ve had my own struggles with mental health too. I know what it feels like when things get heavy, when your mind works against you instead of with you. And I also know how important it is to have support, whether that’s through professionals, loved ones, or even just someone listening.

That’s why this challenge means so much to me.

Mental health struggles can affect anyone, at any time. And while conversations around mental health have come a long way, access to the right support still isn’t always there when people need it most. That’s where Mental Health UK steps in. They do incredible work in homes, schools, and workplaces across the country, helping people build resilience, confidence, and the tools to navigate life’s ups and downs.

This isn’t just about miles on a map. It’s about showing up, step by step, for something bigger. It’s about contributing, in whatever way I can, to a future where support is easier to reach and no one feels like they have to struggle alone.

If you’re able to support me, I’d be incredibly grateful. Every donation, no matter the size, helps make a real difference. It helps ensure that more people can access the support they need, when they need it most.

And if donating isn’t possible, even sharing this or cheering me on means more than you might think.

Thank you for reading, for supporting, and for being part of something that truly matters 💙
