Adam Dean Cardiff Half

Friday 23rd Jan

The main reason I’m running the Cardiff Half Marathon is to raise money and awareness for mental health. This cause is deeply personal to me. My stepdad took his own life, and that loss is something that stays with you -/ not just in moments of grief, but in the quiet, everyday realisations of what might have helped if support had felt more accessible, or conversations had felt easier to have. Mental health struggles are often invisible, and too many people suffer in silence, believing they have to carry everything alone.

By running this race, I want to help change that narrative. It is okay to talk. It’s okay to ask for help, to say you’re not coping, or to lean on someone when things feel too heavy. The money raised will go toward mental health support and awareness, helping ensure that more people have access to resources, education, and the reassurance that they are not alone. If this run, this fundraiser, or even this post encourages just one person to speak to someone instead of staying silent, then every mile will be worth it.
