Terms & Conditions
1. Registration
By registering for 31 Miles in August, you agree to participate in the challenge in accordance with these Terms & Conditions.
Participants must be aged 17 or over to register independently. Anyone under 17 must have permission from a parent or guardian.
Registration is free.
2. The Challenge
31 Miles in August is a virtual fundraising challenge organised by Mental Health UK.
Participants are encouraged to complete 31 miles during August by walking, running, wheeling, rolling or completing other suitable forms of physical activity.
Participants may complete the challenge in a way that is appropriate for their individual circumstances and abilities.
3. Health and Safety
Participants take part entirely at their own risk.
By registering, you confirm that:
- You are medically fit to participate or have sought appropriate medical advice where required.
- You will participate safely and responsibly.
- You will follow any relevant laws, regulations and guidance that apply to your chosen activity.
- You will stop exercising and seek medical advice if you experience any concerns during participation.
Mental Health UK accepts no liability for injury, illness, loss or damage arising from participation in the challenge except where liability cannot be excluded by law.
4. Fundraising
All funds raised through 31 Miles in August will support the work of Mental Health UK.
Participants agree to:
- Fundraise legally, honestly and safely.
- Comply with guidance issued by the Fundraising Regulator where applicable.
- Ensure any information provided to donors is accurate and not misleading.
- Avoid any fundraising activity that could bring Mental Health UK into disrepute.
Mental Health UK reserves the right to refuse or return donations where required by law or charity regulations.
5. Rewards
Participants may be eligible for fundraising rewards during the challenge.
Current reward thresholds are:
- Raise £75 and receive an exclusive 31 Miles in August t-shirt.
- Raise £100 and receive a 31 Miles in August medal.
Mental Health UK reserves the right to substitute rewards with items of equal value if necessary.
Rewards will be issued after fundraising totals have been verified.
Participants who reach a reward threshold should contact Mental Health UK to claim their reward.
6. Communications
By registering for 31 Miles in August, you agree that Mental Health UK may contact you by email, phone or text message regarding your participation in the challenge.
These communications may include:
- Challenge updates
- Fundraising support and tips
- Reward information
- Event administration
- Important participant information
These communications form part of your participation in the challenge.
Any separate marketing communications from Mental Health UK will be subject to your communication preferences.
7. Personal Data
Mental Health UK will process personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy.
Information collected as part of your registration will be used to administer the challenge, support your fundraising and fulfil any rewards earned.

8. Changes and Cancellation
Mental Health UK reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions where necessary.
Mental Health UK also reserves the right to cancel, suspend or modify the challenge if circumstances beyond its reasonable control make this necessary.
