Fundraising dedicated to Nina

We are dedicating this marathon to Cristina (Nina), Sofia’s little sister, who passed away after years of battling mental health challenges.

Nina was brilliant, beautiful, and full of life. She had a sharp wit, a kind heart, and an unwavering love for those around her. She adored horseback riding, singing, and being around animals.

As a child, Nina loved deeply, but that same depth of emotion also brought her pain. She struggled with depression for years, much of it unseen. In November 2021, our world changed forever. Now, three years later, not a day goes by without thinking of her and feeling grateful for the 15 years we shared.

Mental health problems are on the rise, with suicide being one of the leading causes of preventable deaths among children and adolescents in the UK. Signs that someone may be struggling include social withdrawal, persistent sadness, irritability, and a loss of interest in activities they once loved. Recognising these signs and offering support can save lives.

Mental Health UK provides vital resources and support to individuals and families affected by mental health challenges. Through advocacy, education, and accessible services, they are driving real change in the way mental health is understood and treated.
