GLOW London 2025

GLOW up London with Mental Health UK

On 11 October, I’ll be lighting up London as part of GLOW – a vibrant sponsored walk shining a light on mental health. I’m proud to be supporting Mental Health UK, a charity that provides life-changing support to people across the UK affected by mental health challenges.

With your help, we can turn London’s iconic streets into a celebration of hope, strength, and solidarity. Every donation powers vital services, helplines, and resources — helping to ensure no one faces a mental health problem alone.

Let’s light the way toward a future where mental health is valued and supported. Please donate if you can — and thank you for being part of the movement.

🩷My Journey 🩷

Tuesday 16th Sep
This year I am supporting this charity & fundraising for 'Mental Health'. This charity is very close to my heart right now. For the past year and a half I have been under their care. It all started from my mood hitting rock bottom and every day was a challenge. I spent every day not wanting to get up, crying as I didn't want to go to work and suffering panick attacks. I never took time off work as my job is my accommodation too, so I couldn't risk loosing a roof over my head as hard as it was I battled through it. I then went through a phase of loosing a couple of people I was close too and I couldn't handle this so
I then turned to alcohol and self harm to help take my mind off of situations but it made it ten times worse.
I was then given 3 mental health doctors. The pharmacist worked closely with my gp and my key workers between them managed to get my medication sorted and also managed to diagnose me. After 6 months I was diagnosed with PTSD & menopause @ 39-40. The risks were high in treating these but after a year and a bit I am now stable. I then had to have tests as it caused irregular heartbeats, which I then had to attend hospital appointments and this then resulted in taking medication for my irregular heartbeat for life.
I had two workers who supported me twice a week and included face to face appointments for over a year.
My partner, went through a very tough time with my moods and dealing with this, but he has been my rock and I couldn't have done it without him, my family, clise friends and my 3 mental health workers.

I am currently stable now and discharged from their services.
With out the mental health team, My partner, family & friends, I wouldnt be where I am today.

Its not what I wanted to be diagnosed with 10 years younger than normal age and being told I cant have children, but they are working closely with me monthly- quarterly to prevent any risks and complications.

To everyone out there that struggles with similar feelings, don't be alone, speak to someone. Its difficult to make the first steps but the mental health team support, advise and do not judge you at all.

Myself and my partner Sy will be taking on this walk to help raise funds for people who need the support. Thank you.

Much love
Nicky & Sy xx
