Why I’m Walking for Mental Health UK
This September, I’m taking on a 20k charity walk in support of Mental Health UK — and for me, it’s about so much more than just the miles.
Twelve months ago, I had a hip replacement. At the time, I was focused on the physical recovery — learning to walk properly again, regaining strength, and adjusting to the changes in my body. But looking back, I now realise how much it also affected my mental health. The frustration, the pain, and the loss of independence left me feeling low and, at times, quite depressed.
Now, one year on, I want to celebrate my new hip — and the journey I’ve been on both physically and mentally. Taking on this challenge is my way of showing how far I’ve come, and of helping others who are facing their own struggles.
Why Choose Mental Health UK?
Mental Health UK is dedicated to providing essential support and resources to individuals and families affected by mental health challenges. With a focus on collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity, they are at the forefront of driving positive change within the mental health landscape.
Together, we can make a difference. By supporting my 20k walk, you’ll be helping Mental Health UK to turn awareness into action and to build a future where mental health is valued just as highly as physical health. Every donation — no matter the size — will bring us closer to a world where no one has to face mental health challenges alone.
