My reason
Monday 29th JunThis April I’ll be taking on the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise money for Mental Health UK.
If you’d told me a few years ago I’d be signing up for a half marathon, I’d probably have laughed. But running has become so much more than exercise for me. It’s become a way to clear my head, prove to myself I’m capable of more than I ever thought and, at times, simply keep putting one foot in front of the other.
Mental health is something that’s always been close to my heart.
Like so many people, my journey hasn’t always been straightforward. I was bullied throughout school, became a first-time single mum at 23, and spent years trying to navigate life with ADHD before I was officially diagnosed. Looking back, so much of my life suddenly made sense, but that doesn’t mean it was easy getting there.
There have been moments where life has felt incredibly overwhelming. Moments where I’ve questioned myself, doubted myself and just tried to get through the day. But I’ve also been incredibly lucky.
I’ve had family and friends who have picked me up when I couldn’t do it on my own. People who’ve listened, encouraged me and reminded me of who I am when I’d forgotten.
The reality is, not everyone has that.
That’s why I’m proud to be running for Mental Health UK.
Every day they help people facing challenges that can often feel invisible to everyone else. They provide support, advice and hope to people who need it most, and I want to do my bit to help them continue that work.
This isn’t about setting a personal best or chasing a finish time. It’s about running for everyone who’s ever struggled silently, felt like they had to face things alone or simply needed someone in their corner.
If you feel able to donate, no matter how big or small, I’d be so grateful. Every contribution will help Mental Health UK continue supporting people when they need it most.
And if you’re not able to donate, cheering me on, sharing my page or simply checking in on someone you care about can make more difference than you might realise.
Here’s to 13.1 miles, sore legs, plenty of training runs… and hopefully making a small difference along the way.
Thank you so much for your support.
Elle ❤️
