London Landmarks Half Marathon for Mental Health UK

I'm taking on the London Landmarks Half Marathon for Mental Health UK!

I want to make a difference to people affected by mental health problems. Every donation, no matter how big or small, brings us one step closer to a world where mental health is treated with the same importance as physical health. Let's turn awareness into action and create a brighter future for all.

Mental Health UK is dedicated to providing essential support and resources to individuals and families affected by mental health challenges. With a focus on collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity, they are at the forefront of driving positive change within the mental health landscape.

My story

Thursday 8th Oct
I like many have struggled with mental health, starting from when I joined the police full time back in 2011.
First time I ever experienced crippling anxiety. The unexplained terrifying fear to the point where I was physically sick, the uncontrollable crying, and the not knowing why I was feeling the way I did.

Being a man and in the police mental is rarely spoken about, it can be seen as weakness, and the fear that imposed just amplified the anxiety, not being able to speak to anyone about it, and the fear of being on restricted duties or not cut out to do my dream job.

15 years on I still have my anxiety which is nowhere nearly as bad as it was those years ago, and I am open more about it now, both inside and outside of work.

Anxiety is a horrible feeling and even worst when you think you’re on your own and nothing seems to help.

Me wanting to raise money for Mental Health Uk in hope that mental health is spoken about more freely especially in the police and more funding can go to support people, have more face to face sessions so people who are suffering can actually talk to someone about what they are feeling, and even towards medication that helps with the chemical imbalance that’s involved.
