When it comes to mental health, anyone that’s gone through hell and back knows it makes you stronger. And anyone that’s gone through hell and back would also probably not wish to ever experience it again. Whether it’s grief, self-criticism, or something else. But pushing your physical self to its limit is like going to hell and back, except it’s a choice. It proves you can go there, and there’s growth on the other side. 

There’s something about choosing to sit in pain that feels like a giant middle finger to all the inescapable feelings of trauma and guilt we all experience. Its like beating the school bully at the local chess final (relatable?).

And the truth is, I was always already enough. You are too. You have the right to be happy even if you’re not good at it yet. So now running isnt to absolve guilt, or prove that I’m enough to anyone, it’s to simply say fuck yeah. Livin la Vida loca. 

So donate! Donate for the pain we runners choose, and for getting through the pain that we don’t. And a beanie.
