Kelly Hunter
Saturday 3rd Oct- 20km for Kelly ❤️
- On Saturday 10th of October, I’ll be taking part in a 20km sponsored walk for Mental Health UK, in memory of my fiancée, Kelly. I’ll be doing this with my daughter, Holly, and I imagine it will take us around 4 hours. I can guarantee you we will talk about Kelly for the majority of this walk 🩷
- Kelly took her own life.
- There are some things in life that you never imagine you’ll have to face, and losing the person you love in this way is something I still struggle to put into words., and still struggle to understand. There are so many questions, so many memories, and so many things I wish I could say to Kelly.
- I’m doing this walk for Kelly, but also to help raise awareness of mental health and the importance of talking. You never really know what someone else might be going through behind a smile or a simple “I’m alright”
- I also want to say something that I feel is important.
- Please don’t feel that you have to sponsor me.
- I know life is difficult for everyone in different ways. We all have our own bills, worries, responsibilities, and I would never want anyone to feel guilty or pressured because they can't afford to donate. I’ll donate £1, if you can too, 👍
- If you are able to make a donation (£1) , Excellent! Every donation, however big or small, will mean a lot to me and will help support people experiencing mental health issues! I didn’t set a target, the charity did, so,£200, £2,000, £20 makes no odds to me, it all goes the same way.
- But if you can't donate, that's completely okay.
- You can support me simply by sharing this, talking about mental health, checking in on a friend, listening to someone who needs to talk, or even just thinking of Kelly when you see me taking on those steps!
- I am good at walking, I’ve been practicing for nearly 50 years, so 4 hours, 12 miles, whatever, that’s the easy bit.
- For me, this isn't really about the money.
- It's about Kelly.
- It's about remembering the person I loved, and the person who loved me.
- And it's about hoping that, somewhere down the line, someone who is struggling might get the support they need and realise they don't have to face it alone, even if they have the all the love imaginable by the closest person to them.
- 20km might be a long way for some of you, but for me, I'll be carrying Kelly with me every step. ❤️
- Thank you for taking the time to read this. Much love, Marty xx
