I'm fundraising for Mental Health UK!

I am taking part in 31 Miles in May for Mental Health UK! Please support me and donate today. Mental health, or rather the lack of it, has been something of a theme for me recently, both with myself and with other people. Too many good people lost or suffering because they couldn't get the help they needed. It's not okay and we all need to do more. So I'm doing this little fundraiser to raise ... well, funds, but also awareness. Follow the charity, chuck in a few quid if you can, but please, SHARE. And take care of yourselves. I love you all.

My Updates

CHALLENGE COMPLETE!!!

Saturday 31st May
Didn't get a chance to post last night, but yesterday I popped up the road to see the horses by White House Farm and got my last mile in! Any last minute donations to get me closer to my fundraising target would be hugely appreciated!

Abbott's Farm Walk

Thursday 29th May
In the last leg of the challenge, I've done this walk twice in two days, adding up to around six miles in the end! Yesterday the sky was full of ominously looming black clouds so I did the walk with very little variation; today, however was glorious, so I loitered on the shore of the Medway, detoured to see some horses, and had a lovely break lounging by the river's edge :) all of which managed to squeak together an extra mile or so! Yay!

Chatham Food Festival

Monday 26th May
Didn't get to walk around as much as I'd hoped thanks to the weather, but I got a cheeky mile out of it :) always a lovely little festival and a great place to get an interesting lunch :D

Abbott's Farm Walk

Friday 23rd May
Did another circuit past Abbott's Farm and along the riverside today. Got treated to a display of house martins swooping and diving for bugs, met some very polite doggos, and most importantly, got a couple more miles in!

Starting to fall behind so I'm hoping for good weather tomorrow despite what the forecast has been saying!

White House Farm Walk

Sunday 18th May
I dragged Jack with me today to investigate a nature reserve up the road, it turned out to be quite small so we wandered a bit further past White House Farm and said hello to the horses before wandering back home :) Strava seems to think I walked in a funny X shape (maybe chasing the horses around?) but I can assure you all I was very good and stayed on my side of the fence and let the horses approach me :D

Chatham to Rochester on a Sunny Saturday

Saturday 17th May
Haven't been able to walk much during the week thanks to work being mad, so I determined to get a few miles in this weekend. Today I was seeing friends in Chatham and Rochester, so decided to take the opportunity and walk the distance between the two. Honestly I thought the distance was longer, but hey a mile is a mile! (The wibbly bit on the map is where we discovered a new charity shop on the way :D)

Rochester High Street Walk

Monday 12th May
Today I had to attend some training in Rochester so I took the opportunity to walk along the high street there and back. I love Rochester High Street! Foolishly, I forgot to turn off the tracker when I got on the bus when it came time to go home so I have only my pedometer to rely on, but according to that I got in a good three miles, which seems about right :)

VE Day Weekend Walk

Monday 12th May
On Saturday I walked through the village to attend the VE Day fete. The timing's a bit off since we stopped several times on our way round the fete and then got strongarmed into a Masonic Lodge open day on the way back and I neglected to pause the timer! But the miles are still right! Another close to two miles onto the count!

Abbott's Farm Walk

Friday 9th May
This is my usual walk because it's a nice circular one, takes about an hour (2.5 miles), and I get to say hello to horses (and doggos, if I'm lucky) and see the boat graveyard down by the marina (very atmospheric!).  Did this one yesterday but forgot to post it. This time my favourite chestnut stallion tried to eat my shirt and I got mobbed by two friendly sheepdogs. A successful adventure!

Hoo Lodge Walk!

Wednesday 7th May
Kicked off with Strava with a new walk, up to Hoo Lodge and back. Not the most exciting walk - turns out Hoo Lodge is just someone's house - and it didn't really go anywhere unless I wanted to walk all the way to Chattenden and back (I did not, I'm still sore from the big larp weekend!) But it got me another 2.5 miles!

LT Weekend Down!

Wednesday 7th May
Alright, let's kick this off! I couldn't keep my pedometer going because my phone battery wouldn't last the weekend, but on calculation I racked up at least 4 miles over the 4 days at Lorien Trust just walking from the Bears camp to the traders and ritual circle and back!
So from today I'll be using Strava so I can properly show you my progress.

We're Off!

Thursday 1st May
It begins today! I'll be taking my usual post-work walk later today, and then tomorrow I'm off to LT for the weekend, where I'm sure I'll get a few miles in walking around that massive site! But I won't be around to post til next week, so expect a big post then!
