London Landmarks Half Marathon for Mental Health UK

I'm taking on the London Landmarks Half Marathon for Mental Health UK!

I want to make a difference to people affected by mental health problems. Every donation, no matter how big or small, brings us one step closer to a world where mental health is treated with the same importance as physical health. Let's turn awareness into action and create a brighter future for all.

Mental Health UK is dedicated to providing essential support and resources to individuals and families affected by mental health challenges. With a focus on collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity, they are at the forefront of driving positive change within the mental health landscape.

Gym member of the month

Sunday 9th Nov
Hi all, my half marathon training is underway! Thought I’d share the write up that I received recently from Anytime fitness which I am so proud of! 🌟 Member of the Month: Megan B. 🌟 We’re so excited to celebrate Megan B., our Member of the Month! 💫 Megan joined us back in June 2019, and since then, she’s been a constant source of positivity and determination in our community. Over the years, she’s continued to challenge herself in new ways—most recently by taking up running and Pilates. 🏃‍♀️🧘‍♀️ Her consistency, effort, and mindset have truly paid off. The progress she’s made—both inside and outside the gym—is nothing short of inspiring. From building strength and endurance to gaining confidence and balance, Megan has shown what’s possible when you commit to your goals and trust the process. 🙌 We’ve loved watching her confidence grow, her skills improve, and her energy light up the room every time she walks in. Megan’s journey is a reminder that progress doesn’t happen overnight—it’s built one step, one class, and one workout at a time. Keep pushing, smiling, and inspiring us all, Megan. You’ve earned it! 💪💫 #MemberOfTheMonth #GymFam #CommunityStrong #ProgressNotPerfection #ConfidenceInMotion #Inspiration #PilatesAndRunning #StrongerEveryDay

World Mental Health Day

Friday 10th Oct
Today is #worldmentalhealthday. Talking more openly about how we can best support our mental health and providing a compassionate, supportive environment is so important. Running has played a huge part in supporting my mental health 🏃‍♀️

In total, I’ve raised over £250 so far for Mental Health UK which I’m so grateful for.

Children’s Hospice Southwest 10km race

Sunday 28th Sep

Hi all, thank you for your donations so far, I really appreciate the support in my running journey! Thought I’d give an update on my running progress so far!

Today I ran the children’s Hospice Southwest 10km race around Barnstaple. The atmosphere at Rock Park and all along the route was so encouraging and supportive. However, one person’s comment “They are only jogging” as I left the park shocked me! Even though this comment initially threw me, It gave me great determination and focus to run to the best of my ability, regardless of how slow I was going-I  hardly walked!

I believe that everyone’s running journey is different. No matter how fast or slow you go, we have made the commitment to get out there, do something physically challenging and improve our mental health.

I gained so much confidence today! Through determination, I got my 10km personal best- 1:25! My last personal best was March- 6 months ago! This shows how far I have come!

Running is such a great achievement for me and I am hoping to keep this mindset for my upcoming fundraising and running events in support of Mental Health UK and the amazing work they do! Here is to more training for the London Landmarks Half Marathon next April!

Why I am running the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2026

Saturday 30th Aug
Hi all,

Some of you might not know that I am running the London Landmarks Half Marathon next year on 12th April 2025.  My Auntie Heather Kingdon is also running for Bowel Cancer West. We have both chosen charities that have a personal link to us.

Last year the local support service from Talkworks helped me decide on some goals that I wanted to achieve. I soon realised that running and being part of a weekly group is having an immense effect on my mental health.

After bereavement and hard times that I have been through in the last few years and currently going through,  I find running as an important part of my journey. I definitely experience the ‘runners high’!

In just 11 months of starting running, I have pushed myself by completing a mixture of 5KM and 10KM running events for local charities. So this London Landmarks Half Marathon will be the most challenging race yet! But I am determined to raise money and much needed awareness for Mental Health UK.

Me and Heather are currently planning some fundraising events, so please look out for these on our Facebook page and please spare anything you can to support these charities.
