London Landmarks Half Marathon for Mental Health UK

Scarlet and I are running London Landmarks Half Marathon for Mental Health UK! This will be Scarlets first half marathon ( and my umpteenth 😁). I know times are difficult but if you are able to sponsor us for this very worthwhile charity it would be truly appreciated%

Every donation, no matter how big or small, brings us one step closer to a world where mental health is treated with the same importance as physical health. Let's turn awareness into action and create a brighter future for all.

Mental Health UK is dedicated to providing essential support and resources to individuals and families affected by mental health challenges. With a focus on collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity, they are at the forefront of driving positive change within the mental health landscape.

Almost there! Last week

Tuesday 1st Apr
Into the final week before LLHM on Sunday. For me 20 mile training run completed ✅ and some easy running for Scarlet. Legs feeling okay and no injuries!

Very steady/low effort training this week and looking forward to the rest and fresh legs on Sunday for our crack at a sub 2hr 10min half.

Weather could be warm on Sunday but both looking forward to a great atmosphere. Travelling down on Saturday morning and will be joined by our cheering squad of Fiona, Arthur and Amelia.

Liverpool Half Marathon - Done!

Wednesday 26th Mar
Training continues BUT first big milestone has been achieved with the completion of Liverpool Half Marathon. A fantastic event and Scarlets first Half Marathon!

It was a comfortable run with both of us finishing in 2:17 (Target of 2:25) now a new target has been set of under 2:10 for Landmarks! That’s at least 30secs a mile quicker than Liverpool.

“Deload” Week & Chippenham 10mile

Sunday 2nd Mar
So it’s deload week on the marathon training plan for me this week which means reduced mileage… which is good as I’ve had a bit of a low level cold. That said it’s still 26miles this week with a very good run at the Chippenham 10mile race on Sunday ( quickest 15k I’ve ever done).

Scarlet is on Week 11/15 on her plan and continues to run strong with her longest run getting to 10.6 miles.

Many thanks again for Donations this week, in particular Dad/Grandads. We’re within £25 of our target… cracking Grommit!

Retrospective Gig

Sunday 2nd Mar
We did a gig this weekend so that has boosted donations this week and we’re really very close to our target of £350

6 Weeks To Go

Monday 24th Feb
Just 6 weeks to go before LLHM BUT a couple of races ahead to get us - both - ready for Landmarks Half Marathon.

Training has gone well over the last couple of weeks with Scarlet adding PB after PB for distance (now up to 10 miles) and myself pushing on to my longest mileage so far in this training block at 14 miles (week 8/19 marathon training). So we in theory are well ready!

This week is an "easy" deload week for both of us with Chippenham 10mile race on Sunday for me and then at the end of March it's Liverpool Half Marathon for both us... very much being treated as a training run for LLHM.

Thanks for ALL the sponsorship so far and hopefully we can add a little more in the coming weeks.

Here we go!

Saturday 8th Feb
Thanks for all of the initial support. Really appreciated. Landmarks HM is running alongside my training for Exeter Marathon and Race to the Stones Ultra later in the year. So the training is slowly ramping up.

12 miles today and a 6m trail race tomorrow should top off a 35m ish week of training. Scarlet is equally going well getting close to 20 miles a week. A little fall and bloody knee yesterday but back to a long run today.

Thanks all!
