I'm taking on the 28 Miles in February challenge!

I'm taking on the 28 Miles in February challenge to celebrate and support Mental Health UK.

I'll be moving 28 miles - whether that's walking, running, cycling, wheeling - and raising at least £100 to help ensure that no one faces mental health problems alone.

Every mile I cover and every pound I raise will make a difference to the lives of people affected by mental health problems.

Please support me if you can. Together we can make this count.

Fat Man On A Mission: The February Saga

Sunday 8th Feb
The journey so far:

Total Miles Covered: 27 Total Raised: £165 Total Emotional Damage to the Bicycle: Ongoing

The saga thunders forward.

3 days into the Mental Health UK 28 Miles February challenge, and the Fat Man On A Mission has now conquered 27 miles — through wind, rain, thigh‑fire, and the haunting sound of his knees whispering “why?” in ancient dialects.

The bicycle? It’s in counselling. The tricycle? It’s attending group therapy. The rubber duck therapist? Overbooked, overwhelmed, but still scribbling notes like a true professional.

And now, thanks to the generosity of some truly legendary humans, we’ve raised £165 — enough to help over 27 people find support, community, and the kind of reassurance that doesn’t require Viking chanting or flaming calves.

This isn’t just a fundraiser. It’s a mythic quest. It’s a march toward meaning. It’s a glorious, ridiculous, thigh‑powered crusade for mental health.

To those who’ve donated: You are now part of the saga. Your name shall be sung in the halls of Valhalla (or at least whispered by the duck therapist during coffee breaks).

To those cheering from the sidelines: Your memes, your messages, your spiritual foot rubs — they fuel the fire.

Tomorrow, the hero rises again. The bicycle braces. The duck refills its tiny clipboard. And the road ahead quakes beneath the thunder of purpose.

Skål, and onward to glory.

Fat Man On A Mission: The February Saga

Tuesday 3rd Feb

Welcome, brave traveller, to the chronicles of one man’s quest to walk his way through February without collapsing into a decorative heap on the pavement.

Yes — it’s me. Jason. The self‑appointed Fat Man On A Mission.

I’ve signed up for the Mental Health UK Walk 28 Miles challenge, which means throughout February I’ll be dragging my heroic carcass across the land like a budget Lord of the Rings character who forgot the ring at home but kept walking anyway.

Why? Because mental health matters. Because connection matters. Because sometimes the smallest acts — a walk, a donation, a shared laugh — can make a real difference.

And because, frankly, if I’m going to suffer through hills, weather, and my own questionable fitness levels, I might as well turn it into a noble quest.

What Your Support Does

Here’s the part that hits the heart:

£12 could help 2 people be part of a peer support group for a month, offering them acceptance and reassurance.

That’s two people finding a space where they don’t have to pretend they’re fine. Two people getting the support we all need at some point. Two people who benefit directly from your kindness.

What You Can Expect From This Blog

Over the next 28 days, you’ll witness:

  • Heroic strides

  • Dramatic wheezing

  • Spiritual awakenings

  • Knees plotting mutiny

  • Occasional triumph

  • Frequent snacks

  • And the rise of legendary alter-egos like Buddha on a Bicycle

I’ll be posting updates, miles walked, and whatever nonsense my brain invents while I’m out there trying not to fall into a bush.

If you can donate, you become part of this ridiculous, heartfelt adventure. If you can’t, cheering, sharing, or sending memes is equally powerful fuel.

Either way — thank you for being here. The mission continues. The saga grows. And the Fat Man marches on.
