Calder's London Landmarks Half Marathon: Fundraising for Mental Health UK
Mental health is something that hits very close to home for me personally as I know many that have suffered with poor mental health and its something I have battled myself with a long time. The feeling of not being quite good enough, the feeling of you don't quite fit in and the feeling that you are more of a bother than a help, just few of the battles I have went up against myself in and I know many others will feel the same. In a society that has the reasoning of mental health thrown about a lot, I know their are a lot of people similar to myself that will have kept it all bottled up due to the fear that their feelings and thoughts are insignificant or that we are over reacting and we don't want to bother other people with our problems that might seem like nothing compared to the next person. Everyone has a different breaking point and I am proud that over the years I have slowly been confident enough to open up more about my mental health because by doing this I have been allowing myself to get better and especially over the last few months I have been concentrating on improving my physical health, which was neglected due to my mental health. I am slowly on the mend but I know their are many others out their not at that stage so I encourage you to be confident and speak up as everyone around you would much prefer to listen to your problems now than miss you later on. This is why I have chosen to sponsor Mental Health UK along my fitness/mental health journey in completing the London Landmarks Half Marathon, which anyone that knows me will know is a huge step in the right direction for me.
